International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) is a leader in volunteer travel, working in 50 countries worldwide, and placing travelers on projects that contribute meaningfully to the community they are visiting.

An awesome organization

Launched in 2007, IVHQ connects knowledgeable and skilled travelers with responsible, high-quality projects that heighten global awareness and cultural understanding.

IVHQ prides itself on being a values-led organization, and places four values above all others: Responsible, Innovative, Trusted, and Awesome.

IVHQ equates “awesome” with being ambitious, tenacious, and youthful – the goal is to use size and scale to have a significant global impact, and to be flexible to adapt and respond to volunteer and community needs.

A great and phenomenal experience. They ensured I was prepared for the trip and was always helpful in any problems I had a long the way. Nepal was an extremely smooth trip because them and was so sad to have gone home. I learned so much about agriculture different from my own cultures agriculture practices. And expanded my knowledge on the world through this program. Would do this one again for sure.

This was my first time leaving the US, and volunteering abroad. I’ve known about IVHQ since 2018 and had to undergo some personal character development before I finally rose to the occasion. And I’m so happy I went with IVHQ! They prepared me well so I didn’t have any surprises on my trip and during my volunteer time. Even though I felt nervous, as first-times usually are, the preparation I had was key to my success. The experience was so enlightening, life-changing, and touching. Everyone I volunteered with was an amazing human being.. I felt immediately connected to them. I highly recommend volunteering with IVHQ for US citizens as it’s not commonplace like it is in Germany or Spain for high school graduates to volunteer abroad, and they are very helpful not only to the volunteers, but to so many needy communities all over the globe. I am already planning another trip next year.

I absolutely loved my experience volunteering with the Kindergarten Project through IVHQ. Quito is a beautiful city with amazing views, kind people and great food. I really loved the school where I volunteered at and the kids were so sweet and fun to be with. The kindergarten classroom had 38 children to 1 teacher so I felt I was really helping out by volunteering. It was incredibly hard to say goodbye to the children and teachers at the school when it was time to leave. I stayed at the volunteer house and it was awesome to meet new people each week as new volunteers came and went. The breakfast and dinner they served were really good and the accommodation was comfortable. It was located close the the Volunteer office and the El Recreo mall so it was easy to access the staff for questions as well as food and other items you needed to buy. I love that the Volunteer office helped you book tours and were very encouraging of traveling and exploring Ecuador during the weekends. I honestly loved everything about my experience!

IVHQ was so easy to work with, everything was communicated to me before I left home so there were no questions. My time in Guatemala was rewarding, fun and educational. I would definitely work with IVHQ again!!
